Finalists

Delighted to be awarded with this title at the weekend at the Women Ahead Awards held at the Apex hotel in Dundee.  Although the award is for Independent woman we all know I have had a lot of help from others so thanks to all those who have contributed to Vivomotion in some way.

Award1

Independent Woman of the Year Award

The Independent Woman of the Year Award will be presented to a director, consultant or sole trader of a one-woman business with entrepreneurial spirit who can demonstrate a high level of skill/practice in her chosen business/profession and drive and ambition to determine the success and long term viability of the business.

The successful candidate will be a woman of exceptional achievement, demonstrating excellent performance in her business or profession, great communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and clients.

Her business should be achieving success, be financially sound and have a strategy for future growth.

Here is the rest of the committee, which I recently joined.  They did a wonderful job organising the event for 272 people from across Dundee and Angus.  All coordinated by chair person, Wendy Maltman, host for the event.

Well the last few months have been very hectic……..Here is an update of what we at Vivomotion have been up to.

We took on a new client from Strathclyde University, Prof. Rein Ulijn http://www.ulijnlab.com/ Rein’s group work on molecular materials.  In addition spin out company from his group http://www.biogelx.com/ Headed up by Dr. David Lightbody would like some animations for their company website.  Dr. Eleanore Irvine, a Royal Society Enterprise Fellow approached me to this collaboration underway.

Fraser has been putting the finishing touches to the animation for Prof.  Colin Watts at the College of Life Sciences.  It is looking very nice and hopefully rendering will be finished soon……

We attended the Life Sciences Partnering event at the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh supported by Scottish Enterprise.  It brings together innovative Biotech, Medtech, Pharma, eHealth and service providers looking for collaborative partners.  http://www.lsscommunity.com/events/life-sciences-partnering-event-2013  This was a good networking opportunity.

Next up was a Careers day at Mackies Academy, to help inspire the pupils into a career in science, as well as a chance to network with other companies with exhibition stands.

Following on from this Mhairi attended a Chiasma run by Design in Action.  The aims were to come together with professionals from different backgrounds to think of new services or products for those with Type 2 Diabetes.  It was an interesting and challenging experience!

Finally Mhairi presented the story of how Vivomotion came to be to students at the University of Dundee at the TEG talks.  Thanks to Adrian Binzaru, president of The Enterprise Gym for organising such a wonderful event.
